Tremain Rose
ROSE TREMAIN s-a nascut in 1943 la Londra. A studiat la Sorbona si a absolvit cursurile de literatura engleza ale Universitatii East Anglia, unde a predat, intre 1988 si 1995, creative writing, fiind numita Chancellor in 2013. A publicat romane si volume de nuvele, dar este si autoare de piese pentru teatru si televiziune. Primul ei roman, Sadler’s Birthday, vede lumina tiparului in 1976. Ii urmeaza Letter to Sister Benedicta (1978), The Cupboard (1981) si The Swimming Pool Season (1985), distins cu Angel Literary Award. Romanul Restoration (1989) castiga la randul sau Angel Literary Award, fiind desemnat Sunday Express Book of the Year si ajungand finalist al Booker Prize for Fiction. Romanul Sacred Country (1992) primeste James Tait Black Memorial Prize si Prix Fémina étranger, iar Music and Silence (1999) este distins cu Whitbread Novel Award. In 2007, Rose Tremain primeste Orange Prize for Fiction pentru romanul The Road Home. In 2010 publica romanul Trespass, iar in 2012, Merivel, o continuare a romanului Restoration. In 2016 ii apare Sonata Gustav (The Gustav Sonata). Intre volumele de povestiri publicate de Rose Tremain se numara The Colonel’s Daughter and Other Stories (1984), The Garden of the Villa Mollini and Other Stories (1987), Evangelista’s Fan and Other Stories (1994), The Darkness of Wallis Simpson (2005) si The American Lover (2014). Commander of the Order of the British Empire si membra a Royal Society of Literature, Rose Tremain traieste in Norfolk alaturi de biograful Richard Holmes.
