Daniel Daianu is an excellent economist with in­depth knowledge in the areas of focus in this financial and economic crisis. He was instrumental in preparing a one­day symposium on the global financial crisis that we held more than a year before Lehman Brothers collapsed – as the first in the European Parliament. In addition, he is the author of a report on the future regulatory and supervisory system in the EU – a topic that will play an important role in the period to come. Daniel Daianu speaks up where he feels it necessary and justified. It is that honesty and frankness that have made him a well­respected Member of our group and the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee.
