Descriere - Lepanto e dintorni. Studi e ricerche di storia del cinquecento. (Lepanto si imprejurimi. Studii si cercetari de istorie a secolului al XVI-lea)
Cartea reprezinta o culegere de articole si studii publicate de autor de-a lungul anilor, avand toate un fir rosu comun reprezentat de evolutia Europei in perioada imediat urmatoare bataliei de la Lepanto. Sunt abordate in special aspecte privind evolutia relatiilor diplomatice dintre Spania si Sfantul Scaun, bazate pe literatura de specialitate si documente conservate la Arhiva Secreta Vaticana din Roma, la care se mai adauga cateva materiale referitoare la aspecte de istorie sociala a secolului al XVI-lea. Materialele, aparute in publicatii de specialitate in diferite limbi, au fost traduse, revizuite si modificate unde a fost necesar, bibliografia a fost actualizata tinand cont de evolutia istoriografiei referitoare la problematica principala, cu o atentie accentuata pe noua literatura turca, care ofera un punct de vedere diferit in comparatie cu abordarile traditionale ale istoriografiei europene.
The book is a collection of articles and studies published by the author over the years, all with a common red thread represented by the evolution of Europe in the period immediately following the Battle of Lepanto. It addresses in particular aspects of the evolution of diplomatic relations between Spain and the Holy See, based on literature and documents preserved in the Vatican Secret Archive in Rome, to which some materials on aspects of social history of the sixteenth century are added. The materials, published in specialized publications in different languages, were translated, revised and modified where necessary; the bibliography was updated taking into account the evolution of historiography on the main issue, with a strong focus on the new Turkish literature, which provides a different point of view from traditional approaches to European historiography.
